SOS Festivals - Shaggin' at the Beach

Shagging in North Myrtle Beach

SOS, the Society of Stranders, meets three times each year in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The January Mid-Winter Celebration is four days long while the Spring Safari and Fall Migration are each ten day events. One admission card is purchased for ALL events in a calendar year for the bargain price of only $35. This provides you access to the six major shag clubs – all within walking distance of each other. The participating clubs are Fat Harold’s, Ducks/Duck’s Too, the OD Arcade & Lounge, the Pirate’s Cove Lounge, and the OD Beach & Golf Resort Club. All have excellent dance floors where you can shag the days and nights away.

Shag dancing is a unique 1950s-era classic that was born on the Carolina coast. This ever popular dance is enjoyed by many as enthusiasts from all over celebrate its rich history at these fun events.

The Spring Migration is scheduled for April 17th through the 26th this year with the highlight of the event being the annual parade on Saturday, April 25th. The parade consists of floats, walkers, golf carts, and more – each festively decorated by shag clubs throughout the country.
The Fall Migration is scheduled for September 11th through the 20th with the highlight events being “Fun Sunday” and “Fun Monday”, the 13th and 14th. The “fun” days consist of street parties with popular entertainers and beach music bands.

Throughout all SOS events you will find various bands playing in the clubs, lots of great DJs and, of course, free food and cold adult beverages. It’s like a Spring Break for those of us who have never truly grown up. Come join the fun! You won’t be disappointed.

Harley Spring Rally 2009

Harley-Davidson “Cruisin’ the Coast” Spring Bike Week

The 69th Annual Harley Spring Bike Festival will be from May 8th to May 17th, 2009. The City of Myrtle Beach has stirred the pot a bit with its media campaign and has made it plain that they don’t intend to participate in this or future motorcycle festivals and has instituted regulations geared to this intent. However, the City of North Myrtle Beach and the Independent County of Horry are still welcoming riders as long as they obey the laws and conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.

Events include concerts, burn-offs, vendor tents & displays and more. Details will follow as they become known. As it stands now, you’re welcome in North Myrtle Beach if you'll behave. So that being said… “Let’s Ride.”

Century 21 Thomas Beach Vacations has a wide selection of motorcycle-friendly rental homes ranging from two to eight bedrooms with features such as hot tubs, outside grills, big-screen TVs, and more. Some condominium complexes and homes have parking restrictions that do not allow motorcycles, trailers, and/or trailered vehicles. Please check parking restrictions with our reservations staff when booking.

St. Patrick's Day Festival 2009

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

Started in 1988, this FREE event is full of family fun and held each year in North Myrtle Beach. Main Street will be closed off to traffic on each end so the crowd can enjoy the parade of green as it travels from one end to the other. The parade with its array of floats, vehicles, marching bands, clowns and entertainers will begin at 9AM on Saturday, March 14th. Scheduled performers include Gaelstorm (an acoustic Irish band), the Band of Oz (beach music), the Mason Lovette Band (classic rock/country), Too Much Sylvia, and the Triple Toe Cloggers.
