Beach Fun for August 7th – 16th

August is an excellent time for a family beach vacation. Summer weather… lower rates… less crowded… LOTS of FUN STUFF to do! Staff selections for the coming weeks include lots of fun events for the whole family.

Master of Magic starring Brett Daniels at the Palace Theatre…Five-time "Magician of the Year", Brett Daniels, will astound you with illusions including walking through a real jet turbine. Direct from sold-out shows in Las Vegas, it's a grand show for the entire family.

Barefoot Landing’s Summerfest… A grand fireworks display over the lake at 10:15pm every Monday in August. Nightly you'll see boardwalk entertainers, magicians, stilt-walkers, balloon animals, kids’ karaoke, face painting and strolling musicians. Don't forget the boardwalk parade each Wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m

Dog Days Blues & Jazz Fest at La Belle Amie Vineyard, August 8th… Cool blues & jazz on a summer day in a beautiful shaded venue. Plus, outdoor cooking, crafts, prizes, vineyard tour, a limerick contest, and, of course, sampling the wines of the Vineyard.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball – home games 7th – 9th, 11th – 13th… the Atlanta Braves Class "A" team, the Pelicans, are the local favorite Boys of Summer. Come out to BB&T/Coastal Field and see tomorrow’s stars today. Great seats from $7 to $11.

Broadway at the Beach Summer Fun… Street entertainment galore plus live music with the “Sprite under the Stars” concert series. August 11th features a FREE concert by Sawgrass with their own blend of acoustelectric newgrass music. Don’t miss the exciting fireworks displays over Lake Broadway at 10pm.

Verlon Thompson at the South by Southeast Music Feast on the 8th… with thirty years as a troubadour for credentials, as a solo performer, and as the trusted sidekick of Texas Americana songwriting icon Guy Clark, Verlon has viewed the world from stages everywhere from Barcelona to Binger (his hometown in Oklahoma).

Keller Williams at the House of Blues on the 8th… In his one-man show, he pads barefoot from guitar to bass to percussion stations, using looping effects—and enough instruments to stock a strip-mall music store—to layer sound atop sound until the stage swirls with a full-blown composition.

Temptations & Four Tops at the Alabama Theatre on the 13th… Motown and Rhythm & Blues at its finest. Enjoy a memorable evening of music.

An Acoustic Evening with Travis Tritt at the House of Blues on the 14th… you’ll be entertained with an excellent performance of his country music and R&B hits.
